Happy new year, even though it's a bit late for that haha. Anyways I just wanted to let everyone know that currently I'm working on a project with my friend Ryan which is being designed by Nancy Vasilchik.

The game is more of an educational interactive presentation, which will explain the basics of a software called 4D Embroidery. It's a platformer in which you must jump around obstacles and go through and collect the different pieces of software and when you collect one you will be given a brief description of what that specific part of the software does.

This project was kind of brought up with short notice so the design and development are running for the most part parallel. The project so far has a basic 2d engine running with sounds, input, text, and basic movements of the character.

The level editor is in the works by my good friend Ryan, after that is finished the game creation should be done pretty quick. Also this engine is being designed for the use of another project which was a prior project of my friend, but we want to remake it and polish it up a bit, it's basically a side scrolling platformer with some interesting gameplay mechanics, but I'll post about that later when it actually happens.

A note about other projects, well since graduating I have been trying to get involved in projects since I find it alot more satisfying working on a team based project, I have yet to finish any projects but this one seems to be going in a good direction. Also it's very interesting because this is not the norm for most games.

Seeing games being used as a medium for presentation and education is something I'd like to see more of and I believe that games can teach us things in a fun way that wouldn't be possible through a standard power point or video presentation. Humans love interaction and that's why games are such an interesting creature b/c it sparks the imagination of our minds to explore and actually have an input in what's happening.

ALSO NOTE :

I currently applied for a job at Gorilla Games for a software engineer, they seemed to want a little bit more experience and I recommended one of my other good friends who had a little more experience, and he is now working there.

Now this doesn't mean that I don't have to miss out with Gorilla b/c they are offering me a position as a QA analyst and I am getting prepared for the interview, so hopefully I will be able to establish myself within the company and work my ways into the programming side of game development.

So far 2008 is bringing new and exciting things. I hope to have many more updates and continue working on awesome projects. Everyone enjoy the new year and lets all try to do those things we've been meaning to do , because it's now or never.

So It's been a month since my last update. I am currently working for sandisk as a technical support agent for about a month now. I have been pretty busy with that but still trying to make some progress on blocklet.

The other project I'm working on is with a game company called Stratogon. One of my former classmates is workign there and has helped me get in on one of their current projects which I mentioned in my last update. The levels that I made everyone liked and apparently the gameplay may change due to the levels I made since they were so fun.

Also the current games I'm enjoying are Zak & Wiki for the Wii along with Metroid Prime 3 corruption, The legend of Zelda: the phantom hourglass for the Ds, Bioshock for the xbox 360, and guitar hero 3 for the ps2. I'd like to play crysis but currently my pc can't run it.

Just wanted to announce that I've been digging into the world of C# by using Microsoft's xna game studio. The purpose for this is to advance my skills with C# and also have the chance to work on the xbox 360. The project I'm working on is a joint effort with one other programmer. So far the game is just getting started. I already put together an input manager quite easily with the xna framwork. So far the codename of the game is called Blocklet and it's a puzzle style game.  Also the previous project Super Gawlf is currently on hold due to members not being able to work on the project. Hopefully the project will continue in the future but as for now I will be focusing on Blocklet.

Another project I'm working on currently is designing levels for an unannounced commercial game. I have not started on this yet but am looking forward to getting involved and hopefully in the future I will be able to give more information about this

As of now my main announcement is the start of a project code-named Super Gawlf which is in the early design stages.
This game is essentially a 2d puzzle game which has the player building their path to the hole through the placement of various objects. The player gets only one shot and has to hope they placed their objects accordingly to secure a victory. Objects include various items such as tnt, trampolines, rubberbands, cannons, and much more. The game as of now will take part in a urban setting. Right now we are thinking of using the popcap games framework but nothing is final.
